To College or not to College – Food Riot Radio (guest post)

Are there people out there who could do your job better but don’t have that college degree to put on their resume? Are you better off with you college degree?

I’ve thought about this time and time again. I’m sure there are people who could do my job better because I’m just not that passionate about it and sometimes I just don’t care (Not about Food Riot Radio but my job that pays the bills).

While I’m in a good financial position, I’m not better off because of it. I would have been more likely to follow my dream and become a chef. But, I caved to the demands of society and went to college. After seven or eight years in the corporate wolrd, I’m ready to kill myself – just kidding…kind of.

College and “society” reminds me of that song, by Pete Seger.

“Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue on and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look the same.”

Forget the rules, follow your dreams.
